Operations
Patrol Units
The largest and most recognizable component of the Operations Division is the uniformed patrol function.
Also within the Operations division are specialized components with distinct goals and objectives.
Specialty units include, breath operators, traffic specialists, K9 patrol, firearms, auto division, field training, and career development.
School Resource Officers
SRO Timothy Williams
Officer Williams is assigned full-time to the Bradley–Bourbonnais Community High School and is a certified School Resource for the State of Illinois. While in the school, SRO Williams works with staff and students to provide a safe school environment and helps to educate students and staff on current laws, health concerns, and other safety-related issues.
SRO Matthew Baxter
Officer Baxter is certified through the state of Illinois as a School Resource Officer is assigned full-time to the three Bradley Grade Schools – Bradly East, Bradley West, and Bradley Central. SRO Baxter works with students of all ages and the school staff to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. SRO Baxter also teaches students in the DARE program.
Traffic Safety
The men and women of the Bradley Police Department are proud to announce that they have ranked amongst the best in the state and nation in our traffic safety efforts. The Bradley Police placed 3rd in the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge and placed 2nd in the National Law Enforcement Challenge for police departments in our category.
The Challenges are a means for police departments to document their traffic safety efforts and compare themselves to similar type and size departments across the state and nation.
The Bradley Police Department participates in the Illinois Department of Transportation Occupant Restraint and Impaired Driving Traffic Enforcement Grants throughout the year with hundreds of other agencies statewide. “Click It or Ticket” & “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose.

Lieutenant P. Trudeau served as Traffic Officer for 6 years before becoming a Patrol Sergeant. Now as Patrol Commander he still performs traffic safety functions pertaining to presentations and community events.
Bradley Police Traffic Officers have received specialized Training to better deal with the growing concern for traffic safety and vehicular movement within the Village of Bradley.
The Department has successfully participated in the “You Drink & Drive, You Lose” and “Click It or Ticket”
The Illinois Department of Transportation recognizes citizens who escaped serious injuries in crashes from wearing their safety belts as “Saved by the Belt” members. IDOT presented them with medals and certificates. IDOT has also recognized 5 Police Officers for their DUI Enforcement efforts.
Approximately 7 out of 10 kids in child safety seats ARE NOT properly buckled in.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause death of children, ages 3-14.
Why?
In many cases, children are not properly buckled into their child safety seats. Additionally, some parents don’t realize that a booster seat is vital to ensuring children fit safely in their vehicle’s seat belt.

The Bradley Police Special Operations Vehicle serves several functions throughout the Village of Bradley. Besides serving as an Evidence & Crime Scene Vehicle and Temporary Command Center.
The B.P.D. S.O.V. also serves as a Breathe Alcohol Testing (B.A.T.) station for D.U.I. Enforcement Details and Traffic Safety Events.
K-9 Unit
The Bradley Police K9 Unit consists of Officer Palaggi & K9 Blitz (Belgian Malinois).
K9 Blitz is trained and certified through the Illinois State Police in Tracking, Building Searches, Area Searches, Article Searches, Obedience, Suspect Apprehension, Handler Protection, and Narcotics Detection. The Bradley Police K-9 Unit trains continuously to maintain the skills which are needed to “take a bite out of crime”. The Bradley Police K9 Unit has provided much needed assistance to State, County, and Local Jurisdictions throughout the Kankakee County area.
In addition to their primary role as a Law Enforcement support and patrol unit, K9 Blitz fosters community support while attending public functions and demonstrations, which allows our K9 Unit to meet thousands of people throughout the community.
