Mayor’s Memo

Posted on March 18, 2020

Office of the Mayor – Michael Watson

Hello everyone,

I want to express my gratitude and THANK YOU for rising to the occasion and remaining calm during this COVID-19 outbreak. I am very proud of our community and the efforts of various organizations to support one another from the schools providing lunches to the encouragement of support for our local businesses and of course our medical facilities and first responders. I want to say thank you for doing what you can within the limitations of the situation.

I most importantly want to reassure you that my team and I are in constant communication with multiple organizations from the local health department, medical facilities, and the governor’s office. We are advocating for our citizens and businesses to ensure proper and timely information is disbursed accurately. We are also advocating for and communicating various relief programs at both the state and federal level. Please check our Village Facebook page for updates on various types of economic relief as well as updates on COVID19.

Businesses in the Village of Bradley please ensure your contact information is up to date with our offices. Please call our office (815) 936-5100 or email kbnelson@bradleyil.org to provide an email, key staff names, and titles. The Village will be working to make sure you receive realtime important updates on programing that may apply to your COVID19 economic relief.

Meanwhile please take this time to bond with your kids or grandkids, relax and evoke ‘selfcare’, and/or do some spring clean-up. Also, if you do not want to mess up a clean kitchen, I encourage you to order out for delivery or pick up from one of our local restaurants (there is a list of open restaurants on the Village’s Facebook page).

In addition, I want to thank all the Bradley residents who voted in the Primary elections, despite COVID19 we came out in record numbers. I am pleased to announce that the Bradley Nonhome Rule sales tax referendum, which was on the ballot passed. As promised, we are working on our FY21 Budget, which adds additional firefighters, allocates more funding for our roads, and I will have details of the rebate program for property taxes coming out soon. We thank you for your support.

We will continue to work hard on your behalf. Please follow us on Facebook for updates and happenings in the Village of Bradley.
